Brenda Bigland CBE
I have been a Headteacher in both the Independent and State sector. I became Headteacher of my last school in January 1993 and developed and established systems and strategies which created a culture and ethos to drive school improvement.
Within three years we were visited by OfSTED and were deemed to be an Outstanding school based on radical school improvement.
I was then asked to deliver a Key Note speech at the Conference which launched the White Paper, "Schools Achieving Success" and had the great honour of sharing the stage with Estelle Morris and Michael Barber when we spoke to 500 Headteachers in the audience. This began my journey as a speaker on 21st Century learning in all its aspects.
Outstanding training and resources continued to be essential to all my team to ensure that we were able to meet each new challenge and to manage the process of change effectively. By meeting the needs of the team and offering professional development at each stage of their career they could then in turn meet with confidence the needs of our community...(Children, parents, wider community.)
The school was recognised as one whch served a challenging community.
We maintained "Outststanding" status through excellence in staff training, encouraging early leadership, working with parents and through learning from the National and International perspective.
I am happy to share my systems and strategies with you.
I have experience of working as a Consultant (for individuals and for Local Authorities), a Mentor, a Speaker, Facilitator and a Lead for conferences and workshops nationally and internationally. Comment after a conference offered recently....
'Brenda was charismatic, authoratitive but not authoritarian, open to discussion, and knowledgeable in the Key Note at our recent conference. Headteachers and school staff found her to be grounded in the reality of the classroom and everyday challenges, but able to lift her eyes to the overall vision of educational achievement open to all - and how important that is if we wish our young people to reach their potential in adult and working life.'
Patrick White
Director
I was one of the first National Leaders appointed to the role and have therefore also worked with individual schools , school leaders and governors to take schools from Special Measures to Satisfactory and from Good to Great.
I have worked with Teacher Training for many years and helped to create and now still maintain one of the first School Centred Initial Teacher Training programmes which still produces Outstanding Teachers at the school.
Why not contact me and allow me to work with you as you take your own Leadership journey?
I am always happy to listen and we can begin with an initial telephone conversation which will help to establish and decide any future partnership. |
